I can use fractions, decimals and percents in my adult life in a few ways which are…
1. Work I could use fractions, decimals and percents at work because if i am talkign to a colleague or my boss about my work I could say something like “there is a 78% chance that he will make a 100% recovery after this surgery” or “there is ⅕ chance that this will not work”. 2. To Impress People If I’m out somewhere and I meet someone I want to impress or leave a good impression on I could use fractions, decimals and percents to sound smart. 3. Money If I am counting money or deciding how much I pay someone I could use fractions, decimals or percents to say something like “I have 2/4 of a dollar.” Something else is 1.25 (one dollar and twenty-five cents) is a decimal so really we use decimals in our everyday lives already! I’m sure you have all heard of plagiarism before and what it is but do you know the consequences. Plagiarism is when you take someone else's work, writing etc and say it is your own. Maybe you’ve plagiarized before who knows. Even though it is bad some people still commit plagiarism. Take Chris Spence for example, he was the director of education at the Toronto District School Board. His degree was taken away after findings that he plagiarized on his PhD dissertation. He had become a teacher/school board head years after he had plagiarized but it still came back to haunt him. If you were to commit plagiarism today, no matter how old you are, it will come back to haunt you weather it is a bad mark or something worse it will always affect you some way or another. A few other consequences of plagiarizing are… 1. You could get kicked out of school If you plagiarize in university or even some high schools the punishment will be very serious. If you plagiarize in university you could get EXPELLED and it will be put in your files forever. 2. You could go to jail This usually doesn't happen and is rare but if a person makes more than $2,500 off of copyrighted material they can get up to $250,000 in fines and 10 years in prison. 3. No Personal Gain Most of the time people plagiarize for personal gain like a better mark on a project etc but you really don’t receive any. The only things you receive from plagiarizing are punishment and guilt. We are all challenged with the task of finishing work everyday, and if you are like anything me you probably procrastinate as much as you can. Here a few ways to manage your time and still be able to procrastinate. 1. Time Yourself one way to manage your time is give yourself a time slot. Say you have three tasks to finish give yourself two hours. If you start at one o'clocks finish your first task at one-thirty, your second task at two-o'clock and your third task at two-thirty. This can help because you know what you have to finish at what time and you can pace yourself that way, whether, if you had infinite amount of time you would probably dave off or get off task. 2. Plan Planning is important to do because it will keep you on track. Planning will keep you on track and help you get your work done to because you know exactly what to do and you won't get confused, frustrated or sidetrackted because i know i can get sidetracked a lot while working. 3. Eliminate distractions Eliminating distractions is really important because will keep you concentrated. For the longest time i thought i worked well listening to music but i really don't. I usually get to caught up in the music and forget about the work. That is why i think it is best if you work in a quiet environment with no distractions lie your phone, people, toys and other things 4. Get An Early start If you have a project don’t wait to start the day before it is due, start the day you get it . The main reason you feel you get no time is because of yourself. You have to make the time.. If you start the project the day you get it you won't have to rush it and you can take your time. 5. Say NO or ASK If you feel that you have too much work don’t be afraid to ask for more time or say you can’t take more work. We've all heard that robots might take over the world and it has been a joke our society for many years but have you ever thought robots might actually take over? For many years we have all thought artificial intelligence was a good thing and it is, it can help us in many ways but might it harm us more than it helps. Research has shown that in about 20 years AI (artificial intelligence) will be taking some of our jobs and we humans will likely lack new skillsets required for new roles and be out of work. Have you seen those automatic systems at McDonalds or Tim Hortons that take your order. You think they're a good thing because you don't have to wait in line but they are replacing peoples jobs. Soon enough all of our jobs will be taken over by robots and we will have no more money. Therefor, artificial intelligence isn't as great as you think
So far this year I have learned that I like to get my work done quickly and turned in on time or early. When I feel like I am behind or I wont get something done on time I get very stressed and I work until I can't work anymore and I am still one of the fist people to finish the task. This is actually an bad thing because it cuts into my home life and its all about finishing the work on time even if I don't have that much. I've also learned that if i'm stressed or something I listen to music. Music actually helps calm me down and helps me focus on the task instead of worrying. My favourite music is by the band called Why Don't We. Also (because its Christmas time) I live listening to Christmas classics like "You And Me At Christmas".

When I first read this article I was shocked, happy, and amazed. I was so proud that Disney has finally released gay storylines and is showing kids what real life is, and teaching them about acceptance. I was also shocked. In the article it said "It won't be the first time an LGBTQ character has appeared on the Disney Channel. An episode of "Good Luck Charlie" featured a lesbian couple in 2014. However, it is the first time the network has made "coming out" a central storyline. Coming out is when people let others know they are gay." This is why I am proud and shocked at the same time. I am shocked because it took Disney almost 4 years to finally release a whole storyline about the LGBTQ community instead of just having appearances. I love how everyone is coming out of what society expects and showing young kids how its ok to be different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnKPEsbTo9s
WOW! The reactions of most of the pedestrians was shocking. Almost everyone cared about their burger more than the kid! One thing that really got me though was everyone was whispering about what was going on but no one did anything to help, they just watch and whispered. That is called a bystander. We have all heard about bullying, the victim, the bully, and the bystander. We are ALL always told that the bystander is just as bad as the bully yet we probably all have been a bystander without even knowing it. We all probably all have walked past someone being bullied but we didn't notice because we are too busy dwelling on our own first world problems to give even the smallest thought to others real problems. |
